待つ身は長い matsumi ha nagai.

    When someone you know is waiting for something to happen, but they can't stop thinking about it, even for a moment, you can use this phrase. For example, if your friend is waiting for a phone call and they keep holding their cell phone in their hand, watching it and waiting, you can say "a watched pot never boils". In other words, they should put the phone down and think about or do something else while they wait.
