Adobo - Mom's Recipe

One of my students recently went to Cambodia, and brought me some black pepper as a souvenir. I was very happy.  When I was a child, my mother used to make a Filipino dish called Adobo. It was similar to gyudon, but with pork instead of beef. I remember she used this type of pepper. In her recipe, she called them "peppercorns". Peppercorns are the dried fruit of the pepper vine, which is native to Vietnam. I loved eating the chicken, but I didn`t like the peppers, so I took them out and hid them under the bowl. Sorry, mom! I will eat them now!
